I finally, after much wrangling, finished a draft of something yesterday, and I find it reasonably satisfying as a draft, but basically as soon as I got it done my brain shut down and I would have been good for nothing but curling up with a book except that the concept of turning on the light bright enough for that was too much to bear so I researched reading lights instead for a bit, and then went to bed to think about going to sleep, and eventually tried to go to sleep early.
Feeling a little clearer now, we'll see how that holds.
Oh, also woke up at 7:15 with the name in my head that I had forgotten (and I'd said to
madgastronomer that it'd come to me in three days or something, apparently it was more like two. One and a half, even).
First dream was a high school stress dream in which for reasons that were unclear but were probably "security" there was a draconian tardiness policy in which one could not go to one's classes if one was late and were thus condemned to wander the school halls like a restless ghost. There was a lot of revenant wandering, and then being late to the next class too, and having to continue.
After going back to sleep I got one the basic plot of which was: my mother was driving the van for some reason, right in front of her one of those police stationwagony things suddenly turned and she broadsided it, the cop was doing something else so we had to wait for attention. Some people who thought they were being helpful pushed the pulled-over van into traffic leading to more panic, there was some third accident somewhere, and I wound up in a small hallway accessed by a waist-height corridor complaining about all this bullshit. Oh, before mom was driving the van there was a thing about being parked along a hedge and some blue car wedging itself along the narrow strip between everyone's bumpers and the greenery, gods know what that disaster turned out to be. I do not know why I am having car stress dreams like this. It's probably representing something.
