AKICIDW: Editing Contract Work

My mother has lost her job and is looking for tips on how to maybe get started doing editorial work or something writing-based for work; does anyone have any suggestions on temp work, contract work, or something of the sort to get her building up a resume for that? I know there are folks who know about that sort of thing.

(All my editorial work has come about by accident.)
