This evening I wrote, edited, showed to first readers, and submitted a piece of flash fiction.

This is not typical given I am a card-carrying member of the "I write long things slowly" society.

(First reader comments were "Delightful", "Evocative, too", and "oof".)

It stomped pretty heavily on some spots that have been Very Sensitized by the last couple weeks. Dialogue between text and reader, etc etc.

I'm pretty sure would have had a similar shape of impact even without that, though.

All oof is somewhat circumstantial, but not all text may hope it so to do. (Or at least I hold that not all text may hope it so to do.) So, sure, not all readers will oof; that any may is (to my thinking) a recommendation of the writing as a text.
