now with the simple application of sodium alginate in the substance and a calcium chloride bath, anything that can be liquified can be gelled, so you could make all sorts of transparent/translucent things, and you can shape them to an extent- added to the bath with an eyedropper, you get spheres, with a spoon, ravioli-like things. I've seen that one can pour the liquid on to a cookie sheet, let it solidify and then run it through a pasta-maker, but haven't personally tried that.
And, of course, I've never done this as baby food.
