The number of people who respond to this with "You'll live" or "Oh no!" or similar statements presuming some level of emotion other than, well, 'Huh, that's a white hair, isn't it' is somewhat amusing me.

Though not as much as the "You're old" conversation with arawen at the time, which was hysterical, because I actually am older than he is.

My initial reaction, fwiw, was a halfway-flippant thought something along the lines of "Wow, our relationship was hard on you."

Given its length, that's marginally more plausible than arawen's theory that it had to do with my mother's recent visit.

Aren't they *cool*?! I've got one in my *eyebrow,* how cool is that?

I also appear to be going that way at my temples, which is fine by me. The random ones sprouting up in my beard are annoying just because there's not yet enough of them yet to be truely salt-and-pepper.

(Also, anything that moves me closer to looking like Gil Grissom is o-kay in ardaniel's book, so. :)

Mine (more than 50% by now, I turned 48 last Saturday) are more wiry and kinky than the brown ones, and when I had only a few they stuck out a bit. I found the first on my 26th birthday, but it was already a foot long so I must have had it for years before that!

Keshwyn actually found my first examples, but I have since found many many more. I find it vaguely distressing, but mostly because I really like my hair the way it was....

I've had them for years, though they're mostly all coming out of the same spot, so I wonder if I injured / scarred my scalp there in some way. I know horses and dogs grow white hair where the skin has been injured... but I'm not about to shave my head to find out. ;)

I feel that I have a white hair. It doesn't have any deep significance, though as keshwyn pointed out, I can probably dye it an interesting colour.
