So, the server I've been playing Warcraft on mostly lately is down today for maintenance, so I went and started levelling up my baby mage on Horde side. When I logged her in, I said, basically, "I have more potion components than I can do anything with, and minor healing potions are still yellow to me." (Yellow in this case meaning 'good but not guaranteed chance of raising skill'.)

So I bought forty potion vials and made minor healing potions. (I said I had more potion components. I meant it.) And then I parked myself in an inn in one of the low-level characters zones and said on the channel there that I'd be giving away healing potions to deserving lowbies. Got a few takers off that; eventually spent a while looking for low-level characters and messaging them privately to ask if they wanted potions.

One of the people I contacted was an eighth level orc hunter. While I was waiting for her to respond, the last person I gave random potions to challenged me to a duel, which I thought was sort of silly since I was about twice his level, but I decided why not and we rampaged around for a bit. So I defeated the shaman, and the hunter said sure, so I handed her a stack of potions, feeling bemused that I had gotten a response with capitalisation and punctuation and stuff like that.

A while later I sent [livejournal.com profile] jenett an email asking her a) if she'd help me find something and b) if she was on Thunderhorn because Hellscream was down, to give me a poke and I'd bring the big cow on and give her a guild invite.

She sent me a character name, came on, and I was pondering at the name. I invited the character, and checked the guild list. Eighth level hunter in Durotar, which means probably orc or troll.

"Did I give you some potions earlier?"
"Were you dueling someone at the time?"

Oh, how we laugh.

Y'know, i really wish my power had been working, but if it had, this amusing event would not have occoured.

I should also add the other amusing part -

Which is that I was eyeing this and also going "Hey, capitalisation! Cool!" but also had firmly put her in "Another woman being friendly, not a guy trying to be nice in that "Let's support female gamers" way that can get wonky sometimes. (or the alternate "Ooh, girls!" which can get a little creepy.)

This is amusing, for all sorts of reasons.

Also, for those reading this on Thunderhorn, said character is Octava - orc hunter.

I'm on Thunderhorn, but I'm over on the other side of the world from y'all.

If either of you were on Thunderhorn last Friday evening, and happened to be watching World Defense, you may have seen some of my (guild's) exploit.

We tried to go to Molten Core, but we were denied entrance by buggy instances, and so we raided Undercity. Killed your Alterac Battlemaster, and almost got the Warsong one, too.

Capitalization is cool, but I often find myself leaving it off when I'm in-game. The internets have rotted my brain and made me lazy.

I'm mostly on Hellscream (Alliance: 43 dwarf priest, level, 41 druid, and a 16 dwarf paladin, because I've been feeling really thumpy recently.)

I mostly haven't played Thunderhorn due to lack of time, but since Hellscream was down (and I was feeling both thumpy and brain-dead) it seemed like a good thing.

I try to capitalise mostly because I don't like my fingers getting into bad habits. My typing is often more atrocious on there, though, mostly because I'm trying to do 3 things at once.

Not last night. I heard that Destined took note of our exploits and couldn't allow the "upstarts" to one-up them. I didn't hear how far they got, though.

Last night I did LBRS and Strat, and got absolutely nothing useful for it.

I also *finally* got the last of the materials together to get +22 Intellect enchanted on my Lorespinner. Which puts me up to almost 7k mana unbuffed. Cost me more money than I want to think about to get it, though.
