So, the server I've been playing Warcraft on mostly lately is down today for maintenance, so I went and started levelling up my baby mage on Horde side. When I logged her in, I said, basically, "I have more potion components than I can do anything with, and minor healing potions are still yellow to me." (Yellow in this case meaning 'good but not guaranteed chance of raising skill'.)

So I bought forty potion vials and made minor healing potions. (I said I had more potion components. I meant it.) And then I parked myself in an inn in one of the low-level characters zones and said on the channel there that I'd be giving away healing potions to deserving lowbies. Got a few takers off that; eventually spent a while looking for low-level characters and messaging them privately to ask if they wanted potions.

One of the people I contacted was an eighth level orc hunter. While I was waiting for her to respond, the last person I gave random potions to challenged me to a duel, which I thought was sort of silly since I was about twice his level, but I decided why not and we rampaged around for a bit. So I defeated the shaman, and the hunter said sure, so I handed her a stack of potions, feeling bemused that I had gotten a response with capitalisation and punctuation and stuff like that.

A while later I sent [livejournal.com profile] jenett an email asking her a) if she'd help me find something and b) if she was on Thunderhorn because Hellscream was down, to give me a poke and I'd bring the big cow on and give her a guild invite.

She sent me a character name, came on, and I was pondering at the name. I invited the character, and checked the guild list. Eighth level hunter in Durotar, which means probably orc or troll.

"Did I give you some potions earlier?"
"Were you dueling someone at the time?"

Oh, how we laugh.
