I last wrote a session summary three months ago, and it was fifteen. Since we're having session twenty day after tomorrow, it's desperately time to do some catching up.
This will also occupy my brain for a bit while I try to figure out how to start section 20 of the WIP, which is foiling me horribly.
*scurries back and rereads 15 to get some context*
It didn't take us long to notice that there had been more effects of killing Fingul than just inside a cave. While we were on the way back to the city, we encountered one of his patrols of stone trolls and little goblins that had degenerated into a fight. Lots of them were dead, and the ones that were still up were still going at it.
We went around.
(Session quote: "We encounter a roving argument." --Renn)
When we got back to the city, it was like everyone knew who we were, and what we'd been to do; I guess their wizards had spotted us or the captain had sent a message back with the whistle or some such. But lots of people nodded to us and remembered our names and all. (Session quote: "Norm!" --Shane)
I spent a long time thinking while people were doing things, and finally worked on putting charms into bottles for my tracking spell. I found everyone all together and gave them each one so I could explain what I'd seen with the sword before. Renn saw what I meant about following the lines really easy, but we've been talking about following signs. Adosar noticed that the sword wasn't as much magic as it used to be; I guess its power is just there for so long as its job isn't done, like a geas. Adosar said that if we wanted to be really elliptical we should say our quest is to make the sword not magic anymore.
We decided that what we wanted to go back home -- back to the clan lands, I mean -- for a little bit. And the elves said they could help us with that, and opened up their portal and we went through and that was really rather quite odd. First we went to Mandos's building so Adosar could catch up with him and show him the swords he'd made as his masterwork. Adosar told Mandos I'd started being able to use magic and pointed out the stone-veins in my arm, and they talked. I sort of leaned up in the corner of the building for a bit and listened to the building for a while, and it told me about how carefully it had been put together. I decided I wanted to go see my father and everyone else after a bit, so I told Mandos that it appreciated his craftsmanship and went out.
Renn wanted to talk to her family, and was feeling a bit weird about it because Edgewalkers don't, really. Eventually she and Hethian went to play with some of the children and got found, which was much easier.
I gave Pa back the shortsword he'd given me, because it's clan property, and the clan will be needing swords in the near future. I think he was sort of surprised I remembered. We talked a bit, about what was going on here and in the world. More navigating the politics. The clans aren't being as stupid as the baronies, they're all getting together and there's a clan council and all sorts of everything, so we can trust them to be sensible about things. That's good to know.
Renn and I found a puppy to give Karas, because we can't be having him going around adopting goblins and everything. We hid him carefully on the way home, and then we went and found one of the druids on the elves who knew a lot and talked to him about awakening the puppy. (Because things are dangerous around us for people who aren't smart, even furry people.) (Session quote: "Something that's brave enough to to take out a badger in its hole can't be. . . okay, it would have to be a little stupid." --Shane) The druid asked the puppy what he thought about things, and whether he wanted to be able to know people better. And told him that things would no longer be all fun if he did, which made him worried. (Session quote: "I don't know. I have to pee." --the puppy)
Eventually we were told to come back the next day after the puppy had had a chance to recover from the spell. Now he speaks Elvish. Karas was very, very surprised. Renn said it was my fault.
The puppy and Karas are still talking about names, and whether the puppy needs one, and what it should be if he does get one.

- "It's a good, funny statement. In case I need to confuse someone."
"That's never exactly been a failing of yours."

- "Your building appreciates you."
"Does she often do that?"
"Say buildings appreciate people, or talk to buildings? The first, no. The second, yes. Wandering off she does all the time."
- - Thiara, Mandos, Adosar

- "Do you need to be protected?"
". . ."
"I can send Shae!"
"Oh no. My brothers don't need to encounter a flying snake."
- - Thiara, Renn
