1377 words. Well, and removing a few and adding a few that I didn't keep track of. And that finished chapter 22, which is 3699 words.
Mind, I don't know if I wrote that scene well. It choked me up, but I don't know if I wrote the emotions that went into why it did. . . . I'm all sniffly and outraged and going to bed now.

Brief setting note -- it's a fantasy, more or less Rennaisance-era technology, mostly minor and fairly endemic magic. Basic story-feel is a coming of age story for the main character, but this is well-hidden under plot. ;) The hook is that main character comes home after a journey -- she works as a caravan guard -- discovers that her father isn't there. Does some investigation, winds up with a suspicion of violence, goes off looking for him and trying to figure out where he went. Stuff gets complicated and scattered from there.
My word count says 76,100 words for the entire file, but that includes my conlang notes, my idiomatic notes for one of the characters, and a note on the hand order for poker. (The character I refer to on rasfc as 'the Sidekick' is a highly skilled but slightly compulsive gambler.)
Does that wave in the direction of answering your question? ;)
