It was snowing horizontally in Boston when I left. This meant that they had to de-ice the plane before it took off. This is done, apparently, by having a little man in a cherry-picker basket attached to a grey truck spray down the wing with what looks like highly diluted Pepto-Bismol, and then spray the wing down again with what looks like highly diluted You Can't Do That On Television (which comment will probably be incredibly cryptic to approximately everyone).
Having had essentially no sleep, I napped on the plane from Boston to Chicago. Mind, there was massive turbulence, and napping on the plane under those conditions was like being gently rocked to sleep by a stampeding rhinoceros. But I got a little rest. And there was nobody in my seat row, so I had space.
Got in to O'Hare on time despite the delayed departure, at Gate 1-C. My flight out was at Gate 24-C, which is a long way away. I snagged "food" from McDonald's on the way there and had time to eat most of it before I was called up to board. So much for that hour's layover, hey? O'Hare is huge, even just the part that's The Land Of The Infinite United Air.
Nearly had a row to myself next bit too, but the elderly couple that had the two other seats showed up at a comparative last minute. (They had a Baggage Issue.) Listened to music, dozed, and read the book on Egyptian history I got
teinedreugan past solstice. Watched fragments of Star Trek: Nemesis without sound. If they're still showing it on the way home I might watch it with sound.
brooksmoses met me in the demilitarised border of the airport, after I had hiked approximately three miles with my luggage. (I exaggerate, but only slightly; the plane came in at the far, far end of the end of the terminal.) Blurrily, we to dinner. And then we tried going to the interesting used bookstore, but it had closed, so we went to an ordinary bookstore. I checked on
papersky's books, but the one they had was already turned out full-face. Got a birthday present for
oneironaut (actually, that's
brooksmoses's fault; while I was looking at the mythology section, he wandered over and said, "Who do we know who needs a [text elided]?" and I said "Squid," and he showed me where the [text elided] was). Also got a birthday present for my brother. (So's you know,
teinedreugan, next bookstore trip I cover; he had a discount card for this one.)
Then we went home, and I hugged
suzimoses, and we sat around for a while until we went to bed. I took the (six!) bottles out of my bag. And I have been snuggled and feel a bit better. Skin!

I think Limbo got overcrowded, so they built an annex near Lake Michigan. ;-) I remember one time that my supposed hour layover at O'Hare ended up being ~20 minutes of speedwalking the length of two terminals, then ~5 minutes on the plane before it started taxiing.
