Went to grocery and liquor store to pick up stuff for making a birthday present for my father (who'll be visiting in a couple of weeks, and who has his birthday in a couple of weeks), also for making something for
brooksmoses's brother, given that I'll be getting out there just before his birthday.
I really need to dig up the URLs to the spice dealers online if I'm going to be doing this sort of thing regularly. Bwaah. (Especially since they might have fenugreek, and the oil I'm pondering making needs some of that.)
Going to Trader Joe's is dangerous. Though they didn't have chicken gyoza today. They have nifty pot plants. Last time we were there I got a Cabernet grapevine. This time I got a jasmine plant.
Jasmine! How cool is that?

Oooh, nasty, got cut off!
Oh, tadpoles have such tiny tails
they breathe through gills
and they are so frail
(clap clap)
Frogs jump from here to there,
they have no gills and they have no tail...
Iiiiiiit's
born in the water
and moves to the land
lays eggs in a jelly-like mass
(clap clap)
It has no covering on it's skin
It's an amphibian.

He wants to know when he started living in the zoo --
When he took you on, apparantly!
when he was a kid, the family notion of "pet" was "hermit crab" or "guinea pig".
If you play your cards right, I'll send you a tape of my guinea pig imitation...
We always had critters when I was growing up: cat, frogs, fish, guinea pigs, gerbils (hamsters?? I forget), parakeets. The frogs got out one night; one ended up in my mother's bedroom. Dad was away on business. That was the end of the frogs... (Don't tell teinedreugan.)
Now I just have a dog. She's sweet... but...
I don't know.
Unsubtle.
A labrador retriever lying on your chest just doesn't have quite the appeal of a warm purring cat lying on your chest.
Ya know what I'm sayin'?
- Briar, brushing off the dog hair, again.
