The car accident I didn't have was much much worse than the one that actually happened!
Scene: I am in the cut-corner right turn lane preparing to merge onto the new street.
Ahead of me, I see, rounding the curve, an SUV go over the yellow line and I slow down to give them space to correct back onto their side of the damn road, which they do not remotely do, instead treating the oncoming traffic lane as if it were a left turn lane.
I stop, avoiding the headon collision that would have happened had I actually merged onto new street.
Elderly gentleman in a UPS uniform behind me also stops but, due to the sogginess of the road, slides gently into my back bumper.
White SUV Asshole pulls up to the light, still on the wrong side of the yellow line, as UPS Grandpa and I pull over to clear out of the way of traffic and mutually inspect cars. There is no damage, not even a paint scratch, so I say more or less, "Look, I think we're okay here, I don't see any damage" and he thanks me for not Karening out on him because he'd be automatically at fault if I did, and we mutually agree to just damn well go home.
I explain White SUV Asshole's actions to UPS Grandpa so that we can both boggle at the incompetence of people trying to get themselves and others maimed.
Then we damn well go home.
And I found some of the nice lemon hummus in the basement storage when I went looking for sour cream and that's actually food lately so I had a reasonable sort of light food and now I'm going to go up to my room and do some tidying and work and play games because I have been liberated from afternoon errands due to excessive WTF.
