About a week and a half ago I had a catastrophic mental/emotional crash situation for complicated reasons related to the opening of the school year and it took a while to crawl back out of that (and the assistance of Teine, who basically told me that I could stay in my room all day Saturday if I wanted, he would take the kids). I am no longer broken/down/thingy but I am still quite tired.
On Sunday there was a social gathering at church, specifically on the town common. (My church is one of those Congregational churches that was Core Structure Of Town Founding And Thus Constructed On The Common, which provides lots of open space for such things at least.) Original plan was to go on my own, or perhaps just with KJ, but the junior monkeys spent the entire half of the service before I threw them out for not letting me pay attention to the service plaintively asking "When can we go to church again for real?!" and I didn't have the heart to leave them at home.
So we packed up and trundled off and I herded the juniors through their Spirit Play (small people religious education) getting-to-know-you session while KJ went on random walks around the common (once just having a walk, once with my phone and catching pokemon). And there was much talking to assorted people and I talked a bit about my story that's coming out next month and about the children and about how nice it was to be in the same vague space as other humans. Eventually we got a takeout pizza from across the street and ate it picnic-style on the common, by which point it was time for KJ's getting-to-know-you RE session and so we shooed her off for that. Eventually we came home, having had a nice time, really, and also giving the other adults a juniors-free few hours.
We are figuring out the routines for the school year. Monday involved Too Many Errands but will result, eventually, in the cover artwork for the Traveller's Guide being properly framed, as well as the photograph of my grandfather and me from not long before he departed to the beautiful West. The local liquor store does not have my beer and does not know why (or rather the Beer Guy had already gone home for the day and he would be the one who would know) and will try to order me some bourbon cream, which will not ship to residences in my state because shipping spirits is legally complex and we have some wacky remaining blue laws.
Updates on Dependency Hell:
- We have several large crates of rocks, did I mention that?
- Insulation Guy is back in touch and came by to drop off something? For a thing? I'm not sure, but I am told he says he should have the things done so the mason can work by Mondayish apparently
- We are moving things up from the Tetris Corner! Thus far my grandmother's desk, the bookcases, and the frame for the papasan chair (the cushion for same mildewed and a replacement has been ordered)
- several Despair Boxes have been moved to the hall so that I can consider putting their contents on the shelves once I figure out how to arrange them, keeping in mind that when the desk is done rearrangement may be needful.
-
artan has finished and assembled the shell for the desk (think 'three seven-foot tall deep bookcases') and it is in place
- the office computer is now actually in the office and appears to run fine aside from the part where the monitor appears to be having a religious crisis and no longer believes in it. (Update: Teine has fixed it.)

I'm glad your monitor has resolved its religious crisis!
And that things appear to be progressing, too.
