So, for the last year or so I have been editing/cheerleading/etc. a romance novel series, helping it get ready for formal release, and all that good stuff.

Book #1 of Mysterious Charm, Outcrossing, just released to the two-dollar ebook market. (A hardcopy version is in the offing but has not ground its way through the gears of the system yet.)

The stories are set in the 1920s, in a version of the British Isles with a secret magical world tucked into the interstices between things. The author is much of the opinion that it is best to write romances in which nobody is required to be carrying the idiot ball (Warning: TVTropes link goes to TVTropes); thus, if one considers the leads hooking up to be the A-plot, each of the books has a strong B-plot around solving some actual problem or figuring out an interesting puzzle. (And a number of those puzzles tie into the slow and steady revelations of the underpinnings of the worldbuilding over the course of the books.) The series is loosely connected, so there will be more of a number of characters in later releases.

I have been having tons of fun with this project and with occasionally telling Celia that she's missing a chapter and/or that the story as written really should have more ponies in it.

(Outcrossing is particularly well supplied with ponies.)

Anyway, if that is remotely your sort of thing, it's out there and I thought I'd let you know so you can take a flyer on it.
