Dreamed everyone else came home early and I was, for a bit, terribly confused because there was something weird going on but I couldn't figure out what it was and then it was "Oh, everyone else is here" and sorting that out in my head was complicated. artan_eter was building a roof in the garage which was later to be lifted into position on something? It was a slightly weird roof because one set of angles was of notably different slope than the other. Also the children were playing in a yardspace that belonged to my father's old house and FM was having a meltdown about some school dispute that was color-coded blue and grey and had to do with the Senate race and there was a Civil War metaphor being used that apparently offended her.

I can't even with my brain.

Oh, also, an earlier dream may have included someone ranting about the combat capabilities of Umbreon as compared to other Eeveelutions but honestly I'm not sure if that was something I saw glancingly on the internet before bed or a dream.

I evolved an Umbreon and it was a wonder-level Pokemon but like 400 combat points lower than my recent Espeon, also a wonder! I am confuse!

I'm pretty sure that's where that came from. ;)

There are a couple reasons I can think of for that, depending on how niantic did the stat squish, and whether or not your two are both fully stardusted

Neither is but at this point I think the Umbreon is more so. I'm just out of Eevee candies.

Interesting. (The various evolutions are supposed to have the same base stats, just distributed differently. I suspect that didn't quite carry over properly with go's stat squish, though.)

There's also the 'these things clearly don't have a straight-up comparison to combat power' as I've caught max-dusted Pokemon who Would Not Succeed In Battle.

The "would not succeed" message is about iv, not the dust level. Both contribute to cp in different ways.

I assume that 'iv' does not refer to anything intravenous.

Individual Values; the behind the scenes numbers that lead to the messages about "wonder" or "not likely". There's one for each stat.
