Among the things that KJ loves the most in the world appears to be the moon. When she spots a crescent - especially a nice luminous one - the finger shoots upwards, along with the proclaimation, "Mun. Muuuuuuuuuuuuun!"
We picked up for her one of those little acrylic tubes with sparkles in it, a magic wand like the ones my brother and I had as kids, and she will flip it over and over. "Mun. Mun! Bye-bye, mun!"
So...
... I'm slowly working my way through Calendars of Ancient Egypt. Which has a lot lot lot about lunar calendars in it, which is useful because I finally am getting some of this stuff sorted out in my head.
But mostly I want to occasionally stop and howl, "MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!"
Parenting. It makes a body weird.

Oh, indeed it does. And what is worse, the effects can last for the rest of your life!
Our daughter used to love the poem "The Owl and the Pussycat" from a very early age, and like KJ, she loved the moon. She is now a grown woman with a four-year-old daughter of her own, but whenever my husband and I look up and notice a bright moon, we say in chorus: "The moon the moon the moon!"

I adored the moon when I was a little kid. Even as a teenager I used (when afflicted by my periodic bouts of unexplained teenage angst) to just sit places outside at night and stare at it. Now of course I am a Grownup with Srs Bsns to attend to and I still do that sometimes.
