19:54:24 * 1111 changes nickname to Kiya
19:54:28 ‹Kiya› œT3333333333333332
19:54:31 ‹meej› Cat, or lamprey?
19:54:32 ‹eemp› Hi baby. :3
19:54:36 ‹Cal› This is awesome.
19:54:38 ‹Kiya› 52QXZŒ5UT555RRRRRRRRRRRR F
19:54:40 ‹Kiya› EW
19:55:12 ‹Kiya› 21
19:55:32 ‹Kiya› a1
19:56:22 ‹Kiya› And you wouldn't believe the stuff she isn't managing to send through.
19:57:05 ‹Sciosa› Lamprey is so clever. She will need her own chat nickname is no time.
19:57:13 ‹Odile› Awww! ^^
19:58:42 ‹Kiya› e5rrrdx
19:59:25 ‹Kiya› ... I seriously just handed her a USB keyboard so she'd let me type.
19:59:37 ‹Sciosa› Need a few more vowels, there, Lamprey. I know, they are spaced at inconvenient distances on the keyboard.
19:59:41 ‹meej› MOM LOOK MOM LOOK, THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SHAKESPEARE
19:59:44 ‹eemp› 8D
20:00:12 ‹Kiya› I think she'd need to be able to reach more of the keyboard for that. She was, as you could probably tell, mostly hitting the left.
20:01:35 ‹Sciosa› I await the day that Lamprey learns to type coherently. I am sure that she will have many words of wisdom to impart.

(It was notably more chaotic on my end than it appears. She also navigated off the chat window several times, attempted to bookmark it thrice, kept toggling between Opera and the OSX Dashboard, and turned the screen brightness up and down a lot. And some of the great stuff - like the one with a capital omega in it - got vanished in her websurfing.)

Hey, she's got core technology competencies that many high school students need to learn! Go her!

(Well, erm, except for the part about doing it deliberately. But that'll come.)

Ha! This cross-references quite amusingly with the descriptions of reward-based dog-training that [livejournal.com profile] tiger_spot and [livejournal.com profile] chinders have been doing, in which the process is all about waiting for the dog to do what you want (and creating situations where that's the likely outcome) and then rewarding it -- and in which it seems that most of effort comes in getting the dog to do what you want unintentionally, and moving from there to intentional is relatively easy.

The changing of nicknames is particularly impressive. I had to be painstakingly taught how to do that!
