I am in a total haze at the moment, because last night was Not A Good Sleep Night. Or, as I posted in a comment elsewhere:

Last night was the following loop:

    -baby fusses
    -change baby
    -feed baby
-baby falls asleep with head pillowed on boob
-attempt to transfer baby to cradle
    -baby wakes up
-baby burbles and does not sleep, possibly reaching 'fussy'
-[livejournal.com profile] artan_eter takes baby downstairs so I can try to sleep
    -baby falls asleep
-[livejournal.com profile] artan_eter takes baby upstairs and puts her in cradle
    -baby wakes up

Of course, when I finally gave up and got up, after the next feeding she was out like a light.

I feel sort of on-the-edge-of-sick, which I suspect is physical/emotional drain making me vulnerable (swollen distinctly on the left side of throat, sigh), though at least I'm beginning to hit 'recovered from labor' around the edges, sort of. Need to remember to call the hospital to make post-partum checkup appointment and have my stitches inspected (shouldn't the damn things have melted by now? Sigh).

KJ appears to be doing well, gaining weight/size. She has impressive baby acne at this point, which is normal. She has been visited and adored by an incomplete selection of grandparents. She loves to kick, flails like mad, and is trying really hard to figure out this turning over thing. Being set on a pad on her belly leads to much vigorous kicking and then tearful frustration.

[livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan went back to work this week; [livejournal.com profile] whispercricket is taking time off so I'm not on my own. [livejournal.com profile] artan_eter starts up school again soon. Slow transition towards long-term stuff continues.

I am really tired right now. Food helped my headache some, at least.

I so remember the sleeping babe at breast. Trying to put baby in cradle always was with discovery of baby fist clenched round a mass of my hair. Yes, I actually once cut that hank off....and soon thereafter the rest of it.

's good to hear that you and the wee one are doing well. I was beginning to wonder. (: *hugs*

Best wishes for real sleep tonight. (:

This is completely normal; been there, done that. For me, the second time around it was twins, who alternately soothed one another (better!) or reinforced each other in fussing (much worse!). Almost fourteen years down the line it seems mostly cute, but I do remember fits of despair. And sleeping on my back with a sleeping baby's head between my boobs (or a sleeping twin baby's head in each armpit, ouch).

Sympathies over the tiredness and the transferring baby to cradle problems. Even though it was a long long time ago, I remember it well!
