I found a chest that suits what I needed to set up an akhu shrine. Go me. I win.

{Edited to add: also, a walking stick that I can take out of the house without getting arrested.}

I've seen those. I had one at one point. I don't know what your friend's one is like. Mine was kind of cheap and threw me off the screw-type design, which is why I got rid of it. It was a 1.5', inflexible pakistani blade and required about three turns to draw. Properly done for potential use a sword cane is an instant-draw weapon. First you're not armed, then you are, instantly. Much like iaido - fast, smooth, draw/ready/strike in one motion. I just don't see that with a screw-based securing system, though I could be wrong with a better designed one.

I just think it's kind of a neat item. Not that I have any intention of carrying one around on a regular basis. I've become rather snobby over the years about my weapons.

Sword beats harp (cuts strings)
pen beats sword (it's mightier after all)
As for why harps would beat pens?

Proper hand positions are more difficult.

I suspect there's something in the "for your name scans to Greensleeves" range for why harps would beat pens, with only a little work.

Oh, and of course: "Build a man a fire, and he's warm for a day..."

try setting it on fire...

If the axes and spears bounce off, try setting it on fire.
If it doesn't burn, odds are it doesn't float.
If all else fails, pile rocks on it.

Yeah, it doesn't seem so much useful for the quick drawing. Still amusing, though.

I don't have any weapons at the moment, although I'd like some. Partially because I'm also a little snobby, and would like them to be nice when I get them, and nice=many bucks. So not right now.
