Dropped the phone mid-conversation, unplugging the headset.

Managed to get it picked up again and plugged it in. "Hello?" I say.

[livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses said something.

"Ah, you are there," I said.

There was a silence, then he said something about the chapter we were reviewing.

I said some things; he said some things. These things did not connect in any way.

Eventually I said, "You can't hear a damn thing I'm saying, can you?"

"Which is very difficult to deal with," he concluded.

This is somewhere in between funny and extremely annoying.

Also, we've fixed it.

My cell phone does this all the time, it drives me nuts. There was this one time, though... I was mean, I couldn't help it. I was talking on the phone with a then-friend when I suddenly realized after she ignored my fifth question/comment that the connection had gone wonky-- but it took a good five minutes of her talking before I figured it out. So I had a very bad idea-- I decided to wait to see how long it would take before *she* figured out there was a problem. Over ten minutes later, she *finally* interrupted her monologue to say "hey, are you there?" I think that was when I realized that when it came to our "conversations" I could pretty much have pointed the phone at the wall and went to dinner and it wouldn't have mattered much. :/
