Dumpling skills are generalisable. Yay. (I have applied hard-earned pierogy construction skill to kuo t'ieh and am now mightily full of satisfying ravs with beef-water chestnut filling. Which taste wonderful and behave like restaurant fried dumplings even to the point of the filling sliding out of the shell in a smooth pinkish lump when I cut the thing in half.)

Further, I accumulated the thousand meat I needed in Kingdom of Loathing for purposes of purchasing an E-Z Bake Oven. Tomorrow's KoL goals: acquire flyswatter for cave and mushrooms for pizza.

Some levels of sanity have been restored through the not uncommon expedient of having a row with Set. I get depressed, lose track of bits of life, eventually He pokes me until I get irritated or figure out how to get through some problem or other, I get better. I'd said a long time ago that it was the red that broke me out of those periods; this is becoming profoundly literal.

I have vacuumed the living room, but accidentally covered large portions of the kitchen with flour. I think I will go clean the kitchen now, while I'm thinking of it.

One of these days I'll figure out why this song always leaves me thinking of Heru-Wer.

Hey, I'm a 16th level Disco Bandit on KoL. Let me know if there's anything I can help you out with. I'm not at the "rolling in bugmeat" level, but I can spare a couple thousand, or the occasional useful item.

Disco bandit is great at the lower levels, because you have a better chance of getting items. Once you get the skill that lets you use Moxie instead of muscle whenever you wield a crossbow, you become a combat badass too. The problem is that you miss out on a lot of the social level of the game, because your special abilities can only help you. Most of the other classes can help someone else (either directly, or by making items for them) and you can get a nice dynamic of trading going between folks.

In short, Disco Bandit is the best class for solo play, but not so hot if you want to play with other folks.

Also, have you joined a clan yet? It's generally worthwhile, because clan members get extra adventures. I'm in clan "RPG.net".

Disco Bandits and Pastamancers? Sounds delightfully strange. I shall have to investigate this thing you refer to.

Hooray for Set. :)

I'm the "your sensible solution will only net you a big 'fuck you' from me, Father" phase with Herne. He's not taking it terribly personally. ;)

Apropos of nothing very much, I was looking for a decent replacement Alice Cooper collection last-but-one time I had spare money to do so, which involved looking at a lot of pictures of Alice Cooper, and you're right, the resemblance is striking.

It net me a "That isn't outside the realm of possibility or interest, if you'd like."

"Fuck you" seems about equivalent in Dad's eyes to "I'd rather kiss a Wookiee!"

"I'd rather fivefold kiss a Wiccan!" sounds like it might have emerged from some delightful parody of modern Pagandom that gets passed around at Pantheacon and shown illicitly at room parties and so on, on sixth-generation VHS. ;)
