His vanity has come back, at least a little. He's come to the conclusion that of everything he's been wearing over the last three days (through a major street brawl that included having his back slashed, a messy miscarriage, another fight, a shouting match, sleeping on the floor, interrupted while sleeping for purposes of another fight in the slum, and sleeping on the floor some more) only his left sock is still acceptable as clothing. And his boots, which need cleaning.

He has also had a bath.
