Going south tomorrow to take care of Dad. Will not be online constantly; visiting Dad means dialup. (For Maryland people: I don't know how likely I'll be to be able to hang out, though I'm pretty sure Dad wouldn't mind if people dropped by. I won't be with [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan, so I'm not mobile except by bicycle (if one's working) or transit, though.) (Note to me: if there's a working bike, go up to Kentlands and look for that pagan store that [livejournal.com profile] morningwind was talking about.)

Okay, iTunes, stop it.

We'll see how I do when it's mostly just me and Dad. I'm having cut-off-from-people angst enough with regard to [livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses; being away from both him and [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan at the same time isn't something I've done for rather a while. I hope to spend the time getting plenty of work done, though. (Probably won't get much more than the 293 I've got written done today.)

There is just enough light from the laptop that when Arthur looks up at me from the foot of the bed, his disembodied almond eyes glow featurelessly. This is sort of disturbing me, especially since my best angle to see it is when I'm looking down at what I'm working on and thus getting it out of peripheral-top vision. The light's not aimed his way, damnit. I'm torn between being a little spooked by my utterly harmless cat and being awed by the evolutionary processes that gave cats that effective a reflective layer in their eyes.

(Speaking of cats: You wouldn't believe how detrimental it is to one's typing skills to have a cat standing on the back of your neck and knowing that if he loses his balance he will sink his claws into whatever he can reach and slide inexorably downwards. I had that little issue earlier with Lennon.)

Have a safe journey down here, and I'll pray for your Dad. I'm not too far away from Gaithersburg, if you'd like, I'd be happy to meet you over at the Walnut Tree some evening. No pressure, though. :)

I am in College Park and I have a car. I'll give you a ride to that store if you want. You have my e-mail address (on any Usenet Post); let me know.

Nope, not a clue. But I was just thinking I need to replace my everday Thorhammer pendant that got lost. And I welcome good reasons to not be at home just now. (Ordinarily, I would be pressing you to accept hospitality.)

Anyway, email me so I have a working address for you and I will send you my FTF contact particulars Just In Case.

They have themselves listed in switchboard under things like "gourmet and specialty foods". Are you sure it is The Walnut Tree in Gaithersburg?

Impressively poor website, I'd say. Aside from the image being linked to the thumbnail version of itself (rather than vice-versa), it's generally well thought of for storefront websites to list where the store is located.

The mention of "bulk herbs" might explain why [livejournal.com profile] oldsma is finding it in the "specialty foods" listings, though.

I understand exactly about the cat. When I was moving once, my cats were acting so pathetic in their carriers I let them out to wander in the car. One of them, Corwin, decide to climb up the back of my seat while I was driving. He continued onto my shoulders. He stayed contented there for awhile but just as I was coming to a stop he decided to walk down my left arm! I was driving a standard! I was shifting with my right hand and could not move my left arm without tempting fate! Argh! I almost made it but then he stepped on the back of my hand and slipped... I still have a scar. He was a good kitty though.

I hope all goes well with your father. You have my sincerest best wishes.
