On the subject of As I Lay Dying:

[livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses: I don't think I've read that one, anyway.
Me: Does the phrase 'My mother is a fish' mean anything to you?
    [livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses: No.
Me: Then you haven't read it.

(We got to Faulkner through discussing my Huge Tracts of Angst, appropriately enough. :P )

*snickers*

We had to write an English journal on that chapter -- that single line. I wrote mine in the class before it was due and ended up getting a 10/10, so I evidently had something "insightful" to say about "My mother is a fish." :P (My friends in Madrigals and I tried to think of ways to make an As I Lay Dying musical. We didn't get far, but we sure made ourselves laugh)

Yes, sadly. I mean, extra-sadly because there was no reason beyond curiousity for me to read that book.

Sure there was. Now you can chuckle when someone mentioned that famous highbrow porn flick, Dewey Dell Does Dallas. ;-)

Did you enjoy that book? I mean I guess it's kind of like I'm glad I had the experience but I didn't particularly enjoy it. Oh wait, that was kind of like the IB workload...
