[livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan is a Hero of the Revolution for bringing me copious quantities of Chinese food which soothes my soul and gives me back a spoon. I am still not really spoon-enabled, but I'm better able to fake it; today was definitely taken as a mental health day.

I need to get back to work; shall see if I can get my head back in order and do so. Should also poke at getting the work I was going to read for [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel into a format where I can read it readily; I may print it out. (I haven't forgotten! I'm getting my fiction space back!)

Music . . . I'm doing complicated fiddlings in my head about music at the moment. There are probably two or three braindumps waiting to happen here. Part of this comes out of chewing on liturgical music (provoked by [livejournal.com profile] lysana), part is pondering the musical portions of this weekend (and wishing I'd been able to readily snag one of [livejournal.com profile] yezida's albums when I was there, but I can order it), part of it is loosely associated with [livejournal.com profile] ladyofchulak's recent rant . . . music.

[livejournal.com profile] jenett -- you probably know my level of overall musical competence better than anyone else and have the best qualifications for answering this question. I don't know how to write music effectively; I expect I could learn, but it's not one of the places that I have a natural gift or drive that has me starting in that direction already. Do you have any suggestions on a) how I can judge whether or not learning will be excessively effortful, b) where to start, and c) . . . uh, there was a C a moment ago, but I've lost it.

I've actually gotten reset onto a normal schedule after this weekend, which is a bit stunning, but it means that I'm not coherent enough to actually say anything, uh, coherent at this hour.

We shall see how this came out. I have made Secret Family Recipe Fudge Cake for [livejournal.com profile] keshwyn's birthday. (I say we shall see how this came out, because half my equipment for doing this was unfamiliar and the other half was inadequate, and as a result of this there was also a large puddle of fluid chocolate all over everywhere.)

It will not be cool enough to frost before games, but I am granted permission to use the kitchen there to make frosting and frost cakes, so that's okay. I don't have enough spoons to clean the mixer (coated as it is with the aforementioned large puddle of chocolate) and make frosting, anyway, not after making three separate 'I need these ingredients' trips and cleaning up the batter explosion. But it smells like cake, so I don't think the proportions are too far off (despite the distressing largeness of the puddle, especially from the perspective of the cook who was also needing to clean it up).

In other news -- this started before this weekend's class, but it's enhanced since -- sitting meditation seems to improve my posture. We shall see if this corrects my backaches some. I should do the other two devotional dances more often, too, as they're energetic enough to be aerobically thingy.
