Pondering getting back into the SCA again. Not sure exactly what provoked that, aside from, perhaps, a feeling that I'm hatching. (And taking my time about it, too.) Peep, peep.
Spent some time dithering about what period and region to work with; I think I'm going to wind up doing Piast Dynasty-era Polish persona. (Let's just narrow this down to a particular four hundred years, and work from there, hey?) I've got resources for period food in that era, which would be useful for a female persona; I'm also pretty sure that
The Bathhouse at Midnight's information about superstitions and magical practices is more or less generalisable across Slavic cultures. (And the book itself is a lethal weapon at twenty paces, either thrown or read from.) This is also the period where the conversion to Christianity was going in, so my research into dwojwierny practices and such continues to have use.
(And motivating myself to actually
do things by combining obsessions = good.)
Garb resources I've been able to find so far have been Russian. But nonetheless
quite shiny. Continuing to peer.
Have also discovered, in only very loosely related thoughts, that somewhere in my various computer brain transplants, upgraded web browsers, and the like, I have lost all my very spiffy heraldry links. Sigh. (
jenett, did I get those from you?
keshwyn, do you have suggestions? Anyone else?)
Gaming icon close enough.
