I finished chapter 20 yesterday.

brooksmoses and I were having our regular phone call, and I was talking about stuff feeling stuck and agitated, and something came unstuck, and I wrote the last couple of paragraphs and emailed it to him. (It's the second-shortest chapter in the draft, but oh well.)
I asked him how long it had been since I'd sent him a chapter.
He said the last one was 4 August.
I knew I'd been . . . something or other, but that's five, five and a half months.
Admittedly, my life fell apart about half a dozen different and increasingly ugly ways in August and I've spent most of the rest of the time trying to reassemble the fragments into something functional, but there's a part of my head that just wants to mutter, "Excuses!"
Not excuses. Will write 21 now.
