KJ: Officially Huge

Just shy of nineteen weeks we had her four-month wellbaby.

Nineteen pounds, one ounce; twenty-six and a half inches.

That's ninety-seventh percentile on each. (And officially bigger than the cats.)

As artan_eter commented, we fear the ninety-eighth and higher percentile babies.

Not saying KJ WILL do this, but breastfed babies grown much differently than formula fed babies. As a result, the growth charts used in your pedi's office (if you live in the US) may not be relevent for KJ. The CDC charts a norm'd on formula fed babies, which grow differently than breastfed babies. Breast babies tend to put on weight MUCH faster the first few months, and then taper off. It isn't unusual to hear a mum say that her baby was too big at 4 months and by 8 months the doctor is telling her the baby is failure to thrive and she must not have any milk anymore.

Of course, bub may always be big. But just thought I'd share this with you!
