As I started thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that figuring that something is "too controlling for everyone" is liable to trespass on a goodly number of people's territories just by being insufficiently nuanced: there was that person in the 24/7 d/s thing, after all. . .
I'm glad the looking-at-shape is useful, even if it's not perfectly sensical.
