[livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan thought he heard the doorbell ring, and he had; there was a woman on the stoop, in the rain, her head bound up in a scarf that showed no sign of having hair under its edges.

She was doing a charity walk for cancer. While on chemo. (She said she'd probably only do a few miles of it, because the chemo has her exhausted.) She stood in our front hall while I flipped through the information she had about the variety of breast cancer she was being treated for, and then I pledged her $20 and wrote my name down on her piece of paper. (While thinking about the person on the Cauldron who was for a while too sick for chemo. So an offering for Chavi in that.)

She asked me for a hug, and I gave her one, and with the $20 she had met her goal for stumping and could go in out of the cold and dark and rain. I hope she doesn't catch a cold; that would be all she needs. (She was also thrilled that I was at one of the ALCS games last year, game 4, and said, 'Can I touch you? You're lucky!' This was because we were semi-watching the game at the time, so it had some context. ([livejournal.com profile] fairoriana, I looked for you when we had views of the dugout area, but I don't think I saw you.) )

Other mumblings: [livejournal.com profile] arawen and [livejournal.com profile] whispercricket came by for vicarious cattage. We wound up watching the Looney Tunes Movie and ordering Chinese food. It was good to see people, even if I was stoned on Sudafed and otherwise incoherent.

The leg is getting better, though I still feel joint-seating weirdness. Dealing with it carefully, stretching it occasionally. It will probably be, for the most part, under my pain tolerance threshhold soon enough that I can reinjure it accidentally. :/

Have sent the book to half my readers now. Twitch, twitch. (Need to get printer fixed, argh.)

[livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan, [livejournal.com profile] sstaten and I went through the Uldaman instance with our high Alliance characters. Were cranky to determine (belatedly) that most of the quests we had landed outside the instance, got them mostly done (except the powerstones drop quest, which is apparently one of the evil kind of drop quests).

Had half a thought about the situation with dreams of A, haven't gotten it quite coherent yet. Djet, though.

Uldaman is a terribly odd instance. There seems to be more quests *outside* than inside, and half of the inside quests require multiple runs. "Get drop, read quest, portal to IF, talk to guy, go *back* to instance, get other drop..." ad nauseum. And then the outside stuff is all completely grey by the time you're big enough to take on Archaedas, so there's not even a proper level range for it.

I will say that Archaedas was a *very* cool encounter, as it was the first time that my Paladin was allowed to play a "proper" main tank role, even though the group had a quite good warrior as well. It's the only fight that I know of where low dps is actually a *good* thing, at least at first.

There's a couple different ways to take Archaedas, depending on your group makeup. Definately want a full five, at the very least. Grab a couple of high-dps characters from Ironforge before you go.

Archaedas does lots of spawns. The faster you hurt him, the faster he spawns them. But if he dies, all the spawns go poof. So you can either hurt him slow, and control the spawns, or just try to nuke him down, and make the spawns poof. (What we did was a hybrid. I solo'd Archaedas for a while, with my self-heal and my junk dps, so that everyone else stayed fresh [they also killed all the things that spawned]. Then at 1/4th or so remaining, he throws out multiple elite spawns, and we went nuclear on him and ignored the spawns.)

The place with the big fire damage (Dark Iron Dwarves?) probably doesn't have anything for you now. But I had to head back there *again* after I thought I was done with Uldaman, to pick up some tablet thing. Head dwarf has a 25 dps blue gun that might be tasty for you, though.

We were actually behind the Braves dugout. It was veyr cold and rainy.

Oh. That's not the place that I was thinking of, then. That's the Ancient Stone Keeper, on the way down to Archaedas. I don't think he's got anything at all for a hunter, but the Paladin could be *very* happy with a nice pair of Cragfists.

And yeah, the pulls get exciting, there. We did hunter pulls the last time I was in there, no pet, so that he could Feign on a bad one, and try again.
