I don't remember the beginning of it; I've lost bits of it over the course of the day, but this is what's left.

The cityscape was huge, full of a multiplicity of building styles and an infinitude of little twisting passageways that angle off downhill in odd directions. If I had to say that it was based on something, I would have to say London. There were enclaves of buildings of a particular style here and there, and then single abandoned buildings in other places. It was City, ancient and intricate and boundaryless.

[livejournal.com profile] keshwyn and I were flying. I often have flying dreams; we didn't have any particular mechanism. Who needs it?

You see, I was looking for pants. I've been getting increasingly testy on the subject of clothes lately, which has led me to an urge to get some loose, comfortable, swishy trousers. Or make some. Or something. In said dream, [livejournal.com profile] keshwyn had a line on an Indian import store that had what I was looking for, and so we were going.

I kept wanting to stop and activate the Sacred-style arched waypoint portals dotted here and there in the city, partly because I'm compulsive. I got the impression that this was getting on [livejournal.com profile] keshwyn's nerves after a bit, but she did allow as how that would make it easier to get back to Wellesley (which apparently also had a portal).

Where she remembered the store was was . . . it wasn't a normal department store, it had some import stuff, but it was all fluorescent lights and black and white and agh. She was sure the place she meant to find was around here somewhere -- it turned out to be a little walk away, down and around and into the weird depths of what turned out to be a well-disguised mall, with storefronts here and there among the stairways. This place was what we were looking for, reds and golds in the lighting, narrow passages with clothes and scents and parting the racks to see the sparkling figures of statues of gods.

So that's what I remember of the dream.

And then reality.

I'm still not sleeping well. I've had one okay night of sleep and one good night of sleep in the last week. I'm going to have to ask the doctor about this on Monday, since I have an appointment. ([livejournal.com profile] iced_spice, the good night of sleep came the night you said you'd pray for me in shrine, actually.)

We went out today, briefly. We needed water-toner for the tanks, so we went and ogled birdies and snakies. No royal pythons there today, but an approximate bucketful of fire-bellied toads. They've redone the reptiles section a lot there. Huge new tank for the box turtles.

There were more rabbits in the small animals and birds section than you could shake a stick at, which I should have expected. There was also a writhe of ferrets. (I don't know if that's the normal collective noun, but believe me, that's what the collective noun that was present was.) There was also a lovely green parrot hanging upside down from its chain and carefully attempting to dismember the links. And a lovely Military macaw attempting to evicerate a wooden block.

We buzzed through and picked up some more polymer clay and some armature wire for me to make icons with. And then the bookstore.

Got a postcard for [livejournal.com profile] dirtydianadd's fellow. (Diana: I nearly got him a disturbing thing with biker kittens on it, but I decided to go for my original intent and do something with trees.) Found a random present for [livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses. Picked up a book on the customs of the New England tribes before the Europeans came. And picked up the glorious, illustrated Book of Coming Forth By Day translated by Faulkner -- complete translation of the Papyrus of Ani with images -- that I've been craving ever since I saw that store had it on display.

Staring at work now.
