I slept in until past one, when my picture of Boneclaw Mother spontaneously fell off the wall and caused me great confusion. (I feel we can wait to rehang it until we've done Bedroom Processing Part 2 really.)
After a bit of faffing about - I nearly have the beginning of a story to pitch to ZNB's next open call - we were declared ready for this year's Lughnasadh festivities, aka the Sixth Annual [KJ] Games since I won at Lughasadh eleven years ago athletic complications in honor of someone's mother I gave birth.
We managed to persuade Teine to come out and play, and this year he won the caber toss. (I had mild injury hitting my ear with the caber but it was mostly a 'wait, ow' scrape than anything of concern.) He ceded his prize to ER, who had the best children's throw (admittedly with the smallest item).
I took the pony race this year, shockingly (technically
artan beat me by a long shot but as the games host he refuses to claim prizes); usually KJ literally runs away with that one. Also FM beat me for the stone throwing, which is usually my event. We then had a round of distance with the stomp rocket, no prizes for that, but
whispercricket took it on distance and on most hilarious landing (on the seat of the swingset).
The ritual pig sacrifice (of the porcine piƱata) had several technical issues involving the rigging and then the children being royal brats about running for prizes, which rather put a damper on the everything, but we managed to rally and are now in the midst of prepping for a (rather late) birthday dinner for KJ.
I am feeling better for having slept a lot? Still crispy and headachey, but. At some point I need to get up and make the frosting for the birthday cakes (which baked weirdly this time but I expect will still be tasty).
