I mean part of that was my fault, in several directions, but.

(I was up too late last night being foolish, which is one of the reasons it was my fault.) Workmen turned up early in the morning, making my usually-good-hours-for-sleep notably poorer than I would have liked, and then at half eight [personal profile] artan burst in because the van battery was dead and that makes it hard for him to get Younger to school.

So there was a great wrangle to get the van jumped, and extracting Youngest because it simplified things for him, but then I had an Exceedingly Tragic Youngest who was consoled with a movie and snuggles, which meant I did not get done the thing I was going to do this morning. (Make oatmeal, which absolutely must be done tomorrow, because Friday I need to have breakfast available to me so I can eat and hit the road.)

I eventually managed to convince AR that she wanted something other than crackers for lunch ("crispy turkey") and fed her and then got her to school, after which I commenced the other part of the day that was my fault: three shops for targeted wintergift acquisition and an hour and a half of aimless wandering in AC Moore, which is going out of business and thus had all their art and craft supplies 25-50% off, and also apparently mason jars. After which I went to the Excellent Diner and inhaled half an eggs benedict while trying to fix my wobblies (having skipped lunch to wander AC Moore) and then ate the other half at a slightly less desperate pace.

Then picked up the junior monkeys at school, and dealt with them screeching at each other the whole way home because ER was touching a seatbelt and AR disapproved of seatbelt touching. Home, unpacking and mild sort, retreat to bathroom, hear horrible crashing sound and children NOT LEAVING THE REGION. Helped clean up broken glass, eventually got it so [personal profile] artan could take the older monkeys to their class with the "I'll clean up the rest of it." Only one shard of glass in foot, easily removed with tweezers, and in an area that was of course already cleaned. Also made appointment for the veterinarian for Robin the Cow Cat, who is currently Robin Lord Of Stench and needs to be knocked out to have his teeth inspected and possibly pulled.

THEN [personal profile] arcadinal turned up to help with complex freezer do-si-do and while we were being amiably sociable my mother called, so I talked to her for a bit. (And told her AC Moore was closing because relevant to her interests. Incidentally I am posting this in part 'cos I suspect it's relevant to other people's interests too.)

Do-si-do backstory )

So, we set KJ and FM to making dinner for the entire set of monkeys and the four of us trooped out to remove Old!Freezer, get it up the hill and into the garage (eventually solved by just sliding the thing over the snow), get New!Freezer from the garage and down into the basement (eventually solved by just sliding the thing over the snow), and get New!Freezer into its proper location.

Then there was chaos surrounding [personal profile] whispercricket calling from her business trip to say hi to the kids, during which I started writing this entry, which was interrupted by finding glass shards in the sink and cleaning that.

Too much day.

ETA: Also I did the whole day from midmorning until just before I posted this wearing this hat, because, as I said elsewhere, AR told me to, and she's cute so I didn't argue. (Also a gentlebeing does not go out without a hat, and that hat is as good as other hat-related options.)
