So [livejournal.com profile] arawen lent me a barcode scanner Friday when we all converged on [livejournal.com profile] kviri and [livejournal.com profile] staralshain to watch Heroes.

And I go to poke at it, and determine that the cataloguing program I was using cannot use a barcode scanner. (Including confirming with the programmer.)

I swore a lot.

[livejournal.com profile] jenett pointed me at another program, which is compatible with the scanner, so I spent much of the afternoon with the trial version thereof trying to see if the exported gibberish from the one program could be read by the other. And then, once I'd confirmed it could, uploading it and correcting the few data errors (it had a problem with multi-author books).

Then I started catalouging books, taking the ones the scanner couldn't auto-identify with Amazon/Library of Congress lookups and putting them in a box to the side. And I have finally found my copy of Fifty Years in the Feri Tradition, which I have not yet read and wanted to because I figured maybe [livejournal.com profile] yezida had taught me enough that it would make some sense. (And The White Wand, and Lilith's Garden.)

I fucking win.

Edited to add: Oh, for crying out loud, what the hell genre is Making Book, anyway ....
