[livejournal.com profile] erispope, [livejournal.com profile] arawen, and I went to Salem today and puttered about.

After early corrections for initially forgetting that [livejournal.com profile] erispope has no damn clue which way she's going, we hunted and killed food. Which was kind of weird, but I'm deeply dubious about places where the menu is entirely composed of things that begin with "Z".

Much wandering commenced. The interesting clothing store did not have a corset as good as the one I didn't get at PCon; the morning coats were a touch on the gaudy side and not what I was looking for. Not a single bookstore in Salem has [livejournal.com profile] yezida's book, which overcomes me with sheesh, not even Pyramid; [livejournal.com profile] erispope did eventually find a copy of Aradia, though not one with pictures. Found a Set statue (that doesn't suck) in a shop that was full of a bunch of miscellaneous stuff including guitars (two blue guitars, one of which was half the price of the other, the hell?) and bottles of amber and frankincense oils that I'll be using in the diffuser (tracking [livejournal.com profile] morningwind's suggestion a bit).

In there somewhere we went to the Peabody Essex. [livejournal.com profile] keshwyn: they have a little exhibit on owls, though I don't know that it's worth full admission for. [livejournal.com profile] erispope immediately went for the model boats, of course. There was pottering about and peering at sextants.

Went to sushi place for dinner. Had experimental test sushi to see if I liked it (salmon roe; answer: no); had deeply and utterly wrong sushi because it amused me conceptually (buffalo chicken; verdict: weird); had cucumber rolls.

We were greeted by a woman who informed us that we'd sure covered a lot of ground today, 'cause she'd passed us three times; she wandered off singing "These Boots Were Made For Walking". That was a little odd.

After all that we went pottering about the North Shore looking for a used instrument shop [livejournal.com profile] arawen thought he knew where was; we didn't find it, and it was closed anyway.

Came home, milled around, watched Mirrormask. [livejournal.com profile] arawen went home afterwards.

Had sugar craving. Most perplexing. Made brownies, cleaned bowl, feeling better now. Also, bonus brownies in about five minutes.

Goddamn knot is back under my shoulderblade. And [livejournal.com profile] arawen did such a nice job of extracting it yesterday ....
