If you're in Nevada -- or know someone in Nevada -- and recently registered to vote, check to make sure the registration went through. Actually, it's probably worth checking your registration in general if you haven't confirmed it recently, whether or not you're in Nevada or some other swing state, and whether or not the allegations of systematic voter fraud are true. Which is as good a place as any to mention VoteWatch, which seems to be an interesting organisation. I'm poking at it; I don't know whether or not to say other people should poke at it too, but I'm poking. (From

Why do I bother reading theist/atheist threads on the SDMB? Why am I that stupid? I know that someone's going to wind up saying, in effect, that all theists are stupid or deluded because of some weird conception of an omnithree deity, generally involving the horribleness of bad things happening, and even pointing out that not all gods have the capacity to do whatever the hell they want (and are only refraining from doing so because of a solemn vow to not shake the ant farm) or the interest in doing so doesn't seem to make a difference; what they're really wanting to discuss is the plausibility of envisionings of the central entity of Christian monotheism. (With occasional handwavings at the existence of Jews, on a good day.) Rubber paradigms are undented by the influence of facts. "Omnipotence isn't exactly a universal trait of gods, you know." Boing! "Not all gods have benevolence as a favorite hobby, you know." Boing! "Have you ever heard of a religion that doesn't originate in the Middle East? In passing, perhaps? Could you name one?" Boing!!!
Spent a bit poking around looking for South American venomous snakes, which process of research was made much, much less painful by the fact that mentioning these things in the vicinity of
oneironaut tends to lead to immediate useful suggestions. Except when gtst's idle. How did I ever write without people who can make these potential sources of infinite cat-vacuuming so easy to resolve?
I have written 949 words in the past two days. 518 today.
I hope Schilling's ankle's all right.
