From the Department of Small White Pebble: [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan pointed out that the books I'd brought in were just the ones that got wedged in the door, and there were more books in the mailbox. So I add to previously established list James Morrow's Only Begotten Daughter and Polish Traditional Folklore: The Magic of Time, by Anna Brzozowska-Krajka, translated by Wiesław Krajka.

From the Department of Laugh-or-I'll-Cry: Apparently, right around the time Crafting the Body Divine was published, the National Organisation for Women decided to revise its stance that BDSM activities were only acceptable in same-sex partnerships.

From the Department of Brain-Damaged Felines: Arthur is periodically noticing that Kunda's out and about and is completely freaking out about it. Apparently, he expects me to do something about the fact that there's a snake in there. The fact that I put the snake in there doesn't seem to register to him.

From the Department of Compulsive Bloodymindedness: I won a 99-mine (15x30) game of Minesweeper without placing a single flag.

From the Department of Compulsive Horticulture: Started two pots of peppers and two pots of herbs today. [livejournal.com profile] keeps, they are the ones with the lids being greenhouse lids.

From the Department of Introspective Endocrinology: I'm hungry alluvasudden. I'm hoping this means that my recent round of depression has broken and my metabolism has shifted back into functional gearage. I'm also hoping the depression has broken as that should help the functionality of currently extant repair issues on bits of my life.

From the Department of Furniture: The bookcase [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan bought for the mathom room is bloody heavy.

From the Department of Ugh: I really, really need to unclog the drain in the tub. Off to do that now before reading Polish folklore.
Random notes on a life:

Discussion about a thread on rasfc (all newsgroups are one newsgroup) about the mechanics of rape managed to wander off into an analysis of what in particular it is about roller coasters that induces physical arousal in me.

This conversation was interrupted in the grocery store when [livejournal.com profile] keshwyn called to ask us to get two cans of black beans. As we were standing right next to a Giant Display Of Canned Beans, this was fairly straightforward to handle.

Went to games night. Watched a couple of games, too. (I tend not to like playing games I haven't observed. Neophobia, y'know.) [livejournal.com profile] autumnesquirrel and I had a brief discussion about the theory that I look like Alice Cooper. I tested the Deranged Grin on her; it worked all right for the topic. I borrowed a spoon and made dip, because I craved sour cream. Mm, sour cream. I reserve the right to be Eastern European at least a quarter of the time.

[livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan: not cute. Thpbt. Even with the heights thing.

Discussion back was on the much more prosaic subject of whether or not the artistic school that I wanted to claim described the type of imagery in Erasure's "Am I Right?" is impressionistic. Art history is one of my anti-strong points.

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] wiredferret and [livejournal.com profile] silmarian on the birth of their son, Sebastian!
