Amused myself mightily talking random World of Darkness characterisation with [livejournal.com profile] erispope, [livejournal.com profile] gwynyth's OSO, and another staffer on NE2. I forget how we got on it, but it's reaffirmed my vague inclination to get together with [livejournal.com profile] oneironaut and (oooh, modulation into minors, shivery goodness, oh yes) generate some sort of personality test checkbox thingy that does a better job on the World of Darkness than the ones we've encountered.

Me, I'm a Cultist of Ecstasy with the flaw Sphere Inept: Time. I have theories about some other members of the family, but I shan't post them without asking first.

Hey. . . this client connects up with the OSX CD player thing. It's a pity that this is only identified as 'Track 04' and I'd already typed in the German. . . . (More specifically, this is Choral (Tenor): Zion hört die Wächter singen, according to the case.)

I made Soup.

Mostly when I've made Soup I make it with shiitake mushrooms, because I really, really like shiitake mushrooms. I suspect it might be normally made with white mushrooms ([livejournal.com profile] wiredferret, can you confirm your intent on this?).

A while back, I went to inspect the mushroom section of the local grocery, because, well, I do that sort of thing occasionally. (I occasionally ponder making roasted stuffed mushrooms like were made at a gathering at [livejournal.com profile] brooksmoses's flat I think the first time I was out there, but I don't remember what goes in them, so I just ponder.)

I saw, in the dried mushrooms section, a packet labelled "Polish Cepes".

The small print revealed that these were Boletus luteus. (I think, if I've remembered how to spell it between checking the package, stubbing my little toe on a heavy can, and coming back to type.) An online dictionary reveals to me that porcino mushrooms are also Boletus genus. It's Boletus edulis that's the king of mushrooms, apparently, and nobody's figured out how to cultivate it. But hey, I'm in the right genus.

According to my Polish cookbook, boletus mushrooms are referred to in Poland as "real mushrooms". Mushroom-picking is something of the official folk-pastoral activity, apparently, complete with poetic tributes.

But for now I have Soup and it's full of mushrooms. Definitely different with the cepes than the shiitake.

Mmm, soup.
