"We can't do the thing we were going to do here to rescue people or at least get information about their fates for their loved ones without getting into a fight we probably can't win" was a delicate thing to negotiate and certainly has emotional repercussions; attempts to get anything along those lines were clearly places Bear Guy wasn't going to give.
Getting the rest of the people out of the particularly vulnerable village was not merely a moral imperative that would let us actually go do our end of the deal but, from Celyn's perspective, counting coup in a fey negotiation way: we know you didn't want us to do this, but you did not bind us specifically to not do this, and so we're fucking doing this. I know precisely the terms I agreed to, and you know them too.
