Bidness cards

Business cards I can help with, sort of.

Vistaprint offers free* double-sided business cards. (Free* means that you only pay shipping and handling, which I think ends up equalling the price of the non-free business cards with free** shipping. You're almost certainly going to choose free** shipping anyway, so this is okay. Free** means the un-expedited, nay, anti-expedited, crapulent shipping wherein they promise to try to get the package away from the angry weasels within a month of the time you order them, in order to give the package to the octopockles, whose job it is to give the package to the postman.)

The reason this is useful at all is:

Double-sided business cards don't have the obnoxious advertisement for Vistaprint on them that the single-sided (free* or otherwise) business cards do have on the reverse.

Checking retailmenot.com/view/vistaprint.com, I see that the current flavor of this promo seems to be:

Buy 250 Premium Business Cards For Only $10.00, Get 250 Free. Plus, Get Free Shipping With 500 Card Purchase.

This ends up being an acceptable price for business cards. It's not the best price possible, but it is the best price I've been able to find for a small run. It is significantly better, in both price and quality, than printing them yourself.

To rain on this parade of good news:

- Once you get business cards, no one actually seems to want to get them any more. I got this same promo and have given away approximately 20 business cards. I've ruined more than that pouring coffee on them, for example. Even after coffee-related mishaps and subtractions due to actually giving some out, I think I still have a lifetime supply.

- Expect Vistaprint to send you their "newsletter" at least daily, and also to resell anything you're foolish enough to tell them - which includes whatever you put on the business cards.

- Expect merciless upselling attempts during the checkout process.

All of that said, I like my fairly inexpensive business cards a lot.
