So someone tried to start a flamewar of some sort with crossposting to alt.poly. (Again.) And I really, really want to respond to the last poster on this subject, but I'm sort of feeling like it'd be stupid to do so in the newsgroup. Mumble.

With all the sexually transmitted diseases floating around these days, I think such behavior is irresponsible on the part of those who indulge in such practices.

Because, of course, all poly relationships involve sexual contact, especially sexual contact with high-risk and/or promiscuous people, and none of them are closed.

I will not comdemn (as a sinner) adults who do engage in this and will respect them as human beings, but, I for one will not live their example.

Good on you. Who the hell asked you to?

At the risk of being unpopular with some people, I will adhere to my own morals and standards.

And I to mine. There's a shocker.

I firmly believe in monogamous relationships.

So do I. I just don't want one.

I think I feel better now.

Yeah, I've been suppressing an urge to reply to some of that trolling too. They seem to be constructing strawmen and then flaming at them. If I thought any of those people were the least bit interested in facts I'd ask them if they knew any poly people.

I think that this one at least gives the appearance of being a reasonable person, while the others have been obviously trolling.
