I wonder what your standard for comparison is.
Still v. tired.
Went to the Labyrinth/Dark Crystal double feature at the Brattle. This involved having
whispercricket come get me (by mumbling at her incoherently) and then letting my brain turn off for the rest of the afternoon, which was much better than arguing with train tables. Dinner with folks (
whispercricket,
autumnesquirrel,
teinedreugan,
keshwyn,
jikharra), then down to the Brattle (the sidewalk in front of which was, at least before the showings, smelling of clove cigarettes and thereby reminding me of
erispope).
Many people cheered David Bowie's tights. Sometimes at dramatically inappropriate moments.
There were a number of Henson shorts before the Dark Crystal, including a couple of counting riffs from Sesame Street, and one long and deeply bizarre one playing with the concept of time which was bloody hysterical.
There were people there I knew, which is unsurprising, but there were rather a lot of them -- nobody I see regularly, but Johanna and miscellaneous other folks I know from when I was spending a lot of time at Random, and
cos, and, y'know, people. Had the weird "What handle do I give to these people to call me by", because I am semi-trying to discourage use of the legal name, eventually settled on 'Darkhawk' as easiest.
And when we got out, it started thundering, and we got spectacular lightning on the way home. Very satisfying. I had a major fit of the crankies, but I seem to have corrected that with an application of noodles.
[ Addendum: "Time Piece" -- the deeply bizarre thing -- was, according to the IMDB, nominated for best live-action short Oscar. Thought folks might like to know. ]
[ Additional addendum: Henson went to Northwestern HS? In Hyattsville? Someone is from Hyattsville?! For loose values of 'from', I mean, but. ]

Names go all weird on me a lot. I really should probably sit down and do some unsnarling work on that mental lump, actually, because it's a bloody bitch and a half. Just pulling out the distinct threads that are there is probably a decent project of its own.

But I'm from Hyattsville. (For slightly less loose values of from, though still loose ones.)

I frequently have the urge to use something that isn't your legal name, but I tend to associate 'Darkhawk' with a particular aspect of yours, and don't wish to imply that aspect every time I refer to you, if that makes sense?

Is there a good collective noun for your many aspects that wouldn't sound too awkward? ;-)

Not /very/ from there, but technically.

It's a complicated thing to be sure. I don't much mind people using my legal name, but I still get moments of confusion when around people that I know only from online. When I started calling myself LineNoise, it never was intended to be something that *real people* would try to call me. So it sounds really weird. But by the time I figured that out, it was too firmly entrenched. I could probably change it, if I had a better thing to change it to. But I'd have to change like two email addresses, three IM accounts, and LJ. Too lazy.
