Been meaning to comment on this for about a week.

About two or three years ago, when we first moved into this house, I planted a bunch of lilies and . . . irises, I think. Nothing came up, really. TIme passed.

Then the other day [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan and I were going out and I spotted, buried deep in the mass of weeds that is my front dirt, a handful of Stargazer blooms. Those are mostly spent now; some ordinary pink ones dominate but there's still a Stargazer hiding behind the sunflower that the birds planted.

Also, there is nothing quite like going outside to make me cease to consider the air conditioning we've got in here feeble and inadequate.

Stargazer lilies are and always have been my favorite flower. (Ooh, and is that a sunflower I spy? *glances at picture, then back up to her own icon*

Lilies will do that. They like their roots cool, so provided they can get enough sun at the right time, a little thing like a tangle of weeds doesn't bother them at all.

My most trusted catalogs resolutely say that Stargazers are Zone 5, but I might try some anyway.
