GOod day. Aside from, y'know, the pain.

Got up on time -- was even awake and doing my sitting when [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan gave me my wake-up call. Got my act together, got down to the ocean to do the two things I forgot to do yesterday, got to the train almost on time.

My hip went out somewhere in there, which made climbing the (steep and irritating even when I'm feeling well) stairs up to the platform . . . awkward.

There were people in the station waiting for the train; the scrolly thing said that the trains were running on time. I stood around for a bit, checked the time, and then looked at the people at the end of the platform I was at. (As opposed to the people sunbathing at the other end.) A couple of kids of type punky-alarming, and an older man. I asked the older fellow if he'd seen the train, he said he was waiting for it. And I have enough skill at small talk to start these conversations now, but not extricate myself gracefully. Even after I've been hit on.

A freight train went by, and I decided to go try to catch the bus. Partly to extricate myself. Grabbed a soda so as to be able to not pay $20 for a $3 bus fare, called [livejournal.com profile] queenofhalves, eventually caught bus (which involved a small and utterly cute girl and a woman who was asking me about my reading material, which was a bit dense for bus conversation but at least did not involve being hit on). Left [livejournal.com profile] queenofhalves another message when I hit Haymarket, found her outside Mary's, we went in for food (which was a good thing, as I'd planned my metabolic state for food when we were supposed to have food, and had started to glitch).

Good conversation yes. About a bunch of things -- dreams and symbolism of people and pre-adolescent sexuality and feminism and Feri work and religious backgrounds and ritual and miscellaneous other stuff. Also good food, in quantity. Then hiked down to the Coop so she could get some blank CDs. [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan called while we were in the queue; I called him back when she left for the T. He went to get dinner while I prowled the bookstore, mostly the bottom two shelves of the bookstore because I sat down a lot except the time I tipped over (in the Sociology section) and only read the titles on the bottom shelf. They had [livejournal.com profile] yezida's book. I found myself tempted to write a note saying, 'Good choice!' and stick it at some random page, but had no paper.

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan. Called [livejournal.com profile] jikharra to see if it was okay that we were early. Talked in car when it was inconvenient for same. Hit [livejournal.com profile] jikharra up for painkillers immediately upon appearance. Played hand and foot at games, for which I did not have sufficient cognitive capacity. Fell over occasionally. Nicked a bunch of blank white cards from [livejournal.com profile] jikharra to make flash cards for the monolaterals for [livejournal.com profile] middle_egyptian. (SHould post about that at some point.) Wandered downstairs to poke at the piano with [livejournal.com profile] whispercricket and [livejournal.com profile] arawen, chatted with them, generally was sociable, consolidated novel into single text file. Did kala ritual because it seemed like a good idea and also because we were talking about unknotting energy problems. [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan came down to DDR, followed by [livejournal.com profile] kviri and later [livejournal.com profile] jikharra.

Seeing clearly now; rain may be gone.

Well, in theory. [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan has to run to play Fairweather so we didn't stick around for the new glasses' arrival. Will acquire tomorrow, in theory. New prescription; eyes about a half-diopter worse than they were five years ago.

Had eyes scanned by zippy new laser thingy that takes photographs of my retina and leaves behind afterimates that look like corduroy. Despite this, the opto, uh, the eye doctor decided to dilate so she could try to track down the weird semicircular thingy that appears to be in my right eye (to which my reaction is, basically, 'Yeah, that thing, I know that thing'). She didn't find it. I now feel that the brightness knob on my vision is turned up way too high.

In other news, I seem to have an astigmatism, though one so puny and pathetic that it makes [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan scoff at the things they're calling astigmatism in these degenerate times.
